Semi-Outdoor Escalator and Fully-Outdoor Escalator Differences
In this article, we intend to explain in detail the differences between semi-outdoor and fully-outdoor escalators.
The first deference is related to the installation environment. Semi-outdoor escalators and moving walks are installed outside the building while they have roofs above them to protect them from rain and snow. However, fully-outdoor escalators and moving walks are installed outside the building without any roof or other overhead covers. Obviously, since semi-outdoor escalators and moving walks are outside the building, they are not in a temperature-controlled environment. Therefore, in comparison to the indoor escalators, they have some additional options, depending on the geographic location of their installation environment. Examples of these extra options include a cooler, which cools down the device in high-temperature situations, or a heater, which heats the device in low-temperature conditions.
Fully-outdoor escalators and moving walks are also in exposure to some environmental elements, such as rain, snow, etc. These types of products have a large number of options. Even though this type of device is capable of operating in all weather conditions, standard recommend a roof over them for more safety. For example, in case the escalator or moving walk lacks a roof, passengers have to hold an umbrella above their heads in rainy or snowy conditions and this may cause danger of falling.
Semi-Outdoor Extra Options
Semi-outdoor escalators have extra options comparing to escalators working under normal operation in indoor environments as below:

- Control Box IP54 Protection Rate
- Inverter IP54 Protection Rate
- Safety Switch IP65 Protection Rate
- Comb Heater (temperature below 4°C)
- Truss Heater (temperature below 0°C)
- Lubrication-Free Step Chain Roller
Fully-Outdoor Extra Options
Fully-outdoor escalators have extra options compared to escalators working under normal operation in indoor environments as below:
- Aluminum Die-Cast Step
